Blackcap
 


A Blackcap returned to GardenTwitter in early spring 2012 after a gap of nearly a year when this great video was taken.

They may look a bit plain Jane but the Blackcaps are very welcome visitors being the only warblers we see at all.

Facts about the Blackcap


  1. Bullet The Blackcap is a warbler and as such belongs to the Sylviidae family


  1. Bullet Whilst the male has a black cap the female’s is chestnut-red


  1. Bullet This bird prefers woodland with lots of dense undergrowth and bushes


  1. Bullet Most british Blackcaps are resident all year round but may visit gardens more often in the winter
